Overview
Little Food Explorers is a comprehensive nutrition education program created for Maryland SNAP-Ed to help preschool-aged children become more familiar with fruits and vegetables through repeated visual and multisensory exploration. As Lead Designer, I developed the program’s complete visual identity and designed a flexible educational system that included curriculum materials, classroom resources, family communications, promotional collateral, and digital assets. The cohesive brand allowed the program to expand over multiple years while maintaining a consistent experience for educators, families, and young learners.
Brand Identity
The Little Food Explorers identity was designed to create a welcoming and memorable experience for young learners while supporting the long-term growth of the program. I developed a cohesive visual system centered around a playful logo, vibrant color palette, approachable typography, and engaging graphic elements that could be applied consistently across educational resources, promotional materials, digital communications, and classroom environments. The result was a flexible brand system that remained recognizable while adapting to a wide variety of applications.

Typography & Color
A vibrant color palette, approachable typography, and playful graphic elements established a consistent visual language that could be adapted across a wide range of educational materials.

Identity Applications
The Little Food Explorers identity was designed to extend beyond the logo, creating a cohesive brand experience across educational resources, promotional materials, classroom environments, and digital communications. Each application reinforced the program’s visual identity while supporting new initiatives and audience engagement.
Educational Resources
The Little Food Explorers curriculum was designed as a cohesive collection of educational resources that encouraged children to explore healthy foods through engaging, age-appropriate activities. I developed a consistent visual system that unified lesson materials, activity sheets, classroom resources, and supporting graphics, making the content easy to navigate while reinforcing the program’s brand identity across every learning experience.

Food Exploration Cards
Developed a comprehensive collection of bilingual food exploration cards organized into four seasonal units, introducing 24 fruits, vegetables, and legumes through photography, descriptive vocabulary, color recognition, counting activities, and guided discussion prompts. The modular system gave educators flexible, classroom-ready resources that encouraged curiosity and repeated exposure to healthy foods while remaining engaging for young learners.

Teacher Resources
Designed supporting instructional materials including educator guides, seasonal planning resources, classroom activities, descriptive vocabulary cards, and implementation tools that made the curriculum easy to adopt across preschool and childcare environments.
Program Promotion
To increase awareness and encourage participation, I designed a coordinated collection of promotional materials that extended the Little Food Explorers brand beyond the classroom. Print collateral, social media graphics, bilingual communications, and digital content worked together to engage educators, families, and community partners while maintaining a consistent visual identity. The flexible campaign assets supported seasonal initiatives and helped reinforce healthy eating messages across multiple communication channels.

Social Media
Created seasonal social media graphics paired with ready-to-use post copy, making it easy for educators and partner organizations to share nutrition education resources while maintaining a consistent brand voice and visual identity.

Promotional Materials
Designed flyers and outreach materials that promoted the Little Food Explorers program, supported community events, and introduced educators and families to available curriculum resources through engaging, accessible design.
Results
Little Food Explorers evolved from a single curriculum into a scalable statewide education initiative used across classrooms, childcare centers, and family engagement programs throughout Maryland. The flexible brand system supported new educational content, bilingual communications, promotional campaigns, and digital resources while maintaining a consistent visual identity across every touchpoint.
